occupational health and ergonomics

At Proactive Physical Health the focus of our Occupational health services is the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal pain and disorders aggravated by the work a person does, whether this occurs in the neck, upper limbs, back, or lower limbs.

Risk factors causing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) can be found in virtually every workplace from commerce to agriculture, health services to construction. An estimated 11.6 million working days a year are lost to work-related MSDs, with each person affected taking an average 20.8 days off work.

Whatever type of business you are in and however many staff you employ, you can do things to prevent or minimise MSDs. Indeed, employers have a legal duty to prevent the occurrence of risks of injury or illness, which are reasonably foreseeable in relation to their employees.

Proactive prevention measures, early reporting of symptoms, suitable treatment and rehabilitation are proven to be extremely cost effective. For every £1 invested in occupational health services, businesses get a return of £3.

The benefits include:

  • Reduced sickness absence rates
  • Reduced length of sickness absences through early intervention
  • Saving management time and the costs incurred by replacing staff
  • Legal compliance with related Health and Safety Legislation
  • A healthier, happier and more efficient workforce
  • Reduced legal costs from work related injury claims
  • Reduced Employer Liability Insurance premiums

We work at every stage of the care system, from offering prevention advice to providing therapy and rehabilitation, and empowering individuals to maintain their own health going forward.
